A – Z of Brighton & Hove 8.00pm – 9.15pm – Kevin Newman – This will be on Zoom – please see ticket link below
September 17 @ 8:00 pm - 9:15 pm
All are welcome to our first Zoom online event, which will be an illustrated talk by local author Kevin Newman, based on his recent book ‘A–Z of Brighton and Hove’. Kevin delves into the stories behind the city’s most notable streets, places, parks and buildings, as well as the dark secrets of its inhabitants, hidden lanes and ‘twittens’ (the Sussex name for alleyways). The book reveals the stories behind of some of the more unusual place names and the history of many of its distinctive features, and also tales of the city’s less famous (and infamous) sons and daughters and the places they frequented.
This online meeting is open to all. You don’t have to be a member of Wivelsfield Historical Society to view – all are welcome, so tell your friends! There is a small charge of £2.50 to help cover our costs + a suggested donation of £1.. The charge is ‘per household’, not per individual, so more than one person can watch the talk for £2.50, providing they all use the same device to view. Payment is made online (with is no booking fee) and can be made by debit or credit card.
To find out more about Kevin’s new book visit:
If you would like a copy of the book before the talk so you have a copy at hand – or in order to ask questions, you can email [email protected] giving your postal address and Kevin Newman send out a paypal invoice and then post you a copy of his book. Kevin is offering his new book at the special rate of £12 before the talk.
